The Économusée de la lutherie occupies the former workshop of the world-renowned violin maker Jules Saint-Michel. In 1999, the space was chosen by the Société internationale du réseau ÉCONOMUSÉE to showcase the world of the violin, a fascinating musical instrument whose shape has remained unchanged for 450 years. The first-floor room has been transformed to showcase display cases and didactic paintings, ancient instruments that were the violin’s predecessors, various examples of violins modeled on the works of the great masters, Quebec instruments, and the tools, parts and stages of violin construction. The museum offers a range of services, including guided tours for groups, to help visitors make the most of their visit.
