Founded in 1960 to meet the needs of the burgeoning theater community, the National Theatre School of Canada opened its doors on Saint-Denis Street before moving to the Monument-National in the late 1970s. The school trains performers, directors, playwrights, set designers and production specialists to serve the professional theater world, in French and English. The National Theatre School also offers a wide range of community programs to promote access to theater for all Canadians.
