Art Souterrain
Founded in 2009, Art Souterrain is a Quebec-based non-profit organization whose mandate is to promote and disseminate contemporary art to a wide audience, while highlighting the cultural heritage of Montreal’s underground city. With a reputation that extends beyond the city’s borders, Art Souterrain has become a Canadian benchmark for the integration of all forms of art into public spaces and atypical environments. By taking art out of traditional exhibition venues and into unconventional locations, Art Souterrain promotes access to art for a variety of audiences and helps revitalize neglected environments. Constantly evolving through its many projects and initiatives, the organization continues to bring the concepts of community and urban life closer to the world of arts and culture. The Festival Art souterrain takes place every spring in the hallways of selected downtown buildings.
