New initiatives are taking shape in the Quartier des Spectacles! To enhance the public experience and revitalize its public spaces, various transformation projects are currently in progress. Here is an overview of the main interventions.

The New Musée d’art contemporain de Montréal (MAC)
The MAC is undergoing its largest transformation project yet. The proposal by Saucier + Perrotte and GLCRM Architects will revamp the building’s façade, expand exhibition areas, and place education at the forefront.
Scheduled to reopen at Place des Arts in 2028, the MAC’s exhibitions are currently on display at Place Ville Marie.

The transformation of Place des Arts
Place des Arts is launching a major asset-maintenance project to rehabilitate the Theatre Building’s façade, home to Théâtre Maisonneuve, Théâtre Jean-Duceppe and Salle Claude-Léveillée, in order to ensure public safety and preserve the longevity of this landmark building.
The work will continue until summer 2028.
