CONSTRUCTION SITES IN THE QUARTIER

The Quartier des Spectacles is getting some great new offerings! With a view to better welcoming visitors, residents, spectators and festivalgoers, transformation works are in development.

Find out more about the two main projects currently underway:

The Musée d’art contemporain de Montréal (MAC)

The Musée d'art contemporain de Montréal has engaged in its most important transformation project to date. The proposal by Saucier + Perrotte and GLCRM Architectes will transform the building's façade, increase the surface area of exhibition spaces and give education a central place.

The MAC is scheduled to reopen at Place des Arts in 2028. Until then, enjoy the exhibitions temporarily relocated at Place Ville Marie.

The Théâtre du Nouveau Monde (TNM)

The expansion of the Théâtre du Nouveau Monde is following plans by Saucier + Perrotte, and will add a second auditorium, the Salle Réjean-Ducharme, a glass foyer and an outdoor terrace.

Completion of construction work and inauguration of the Salle Réjean-Ducharme is scheduled for 2024.

The Théâtre du Nouveau Monde will remain open and accessible to the public during the construction period. Discover the new 2024-2025 season.

Construction works on the Place des Festivals

The turf will be replaced across the entire site from September 1st 2024 and will run until November 20, 2024.

Broken or shifted pieces of granite will be replaced. There will also be levelling and minor repairs to some slabs. All joints will also be redone. The work will be carried out in phases, starting with the Ste-Catherine steps and finishing with the Mayor steps.
