This program immerses us in the heroic world of Richard Strauss, where sweeping romantic fervor meets profound introspection.
Death and Transfiguration open the evening as a vast meditation, portraying the struggle of a soul striving toward the light. Don Juan then sets the orchestra ablaze with irresistible energy, a dazzling portrait of a hero consumed by his pursuit of the absolute. Finally, Don Quixote reveals Strauss’s tender, deeply human side: under the bow of Alisa Weilerstein, the idealistic knight comes to life with nobility and warmth, conducted by Rafael Payare.
A second version of this concert is also offered, featuring a partially different repertoire.
