This dance evening offers a unique artistic journey through the power and grace of a solo by Margie Gillis, the quantum and sensitive space created by Nicholas Bellefleur, and an immersive and introspective solo by Liam Francis, weaving together a story embodied through dance.
New Creation by Margie Gillis
For this new creation, Margie Gillis presents a completely original solo that celebrates women’s freedom, creativity, and strength through movement. A leading figure in Canadian dance with more than 150 works to her credit, Margie Gillis has dedicated her career to teaching, innovation, and performance for over 50 years.
SACRED DISASTER by Nicholas Bellefleur
SACRED DISASTER is a choreographic journey that explores the transformations of life through changing bodies and liminal spaces. Driven by dance, song, and text, the piece transforms places of passage into sensitive territories where vulnerability, resilience, and the desire for community intersect.
Lyre Liar by Liam Francis
Lyre Liar is a hybrid solo conceived and performed by Liam Francis, blending performance and lecture-demonstration to offer an intimate immersion into the world of dance. Through excerpts from works by Merce Cunningham, Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui, and Kate Prince, the artist traces his journey with sincerity and vulnerability. Alternating between moments of dance and spoken word, the piece explores the dancer’s multiple identities and their transformations.
