LAMPARIUM + offers a sensory and emotional experience of light, inviting you to encounter a world inhabited by anthropomorphic lamps evolving between reality and the imaginary. At the center of the dome, two robotic lamps interact with the audience and the visuals. The piece invites viewers to journey through environments that are both familiar and universal, evoking our relationship with this everyday object and the light that surrounds us. The experience proposes a mirror-like encounter with these luminous presences. The animated lamps come to life and, for the duration of the performance, become a reflection of the spectators themselves. LAMPARIUM + is an adaptation of the original film Lamparium, presented at the SAT in 2017. It extends Séverine Fontaine’s distinctive artistic approach, which explores our relationship with everyday light-emitting objects. Like incandescent bulbs, the lamps become human-like figures, endowed with “bodies” and “heads,” taking on a variety of sizes, forms, and postures. For this re-creation presented as part of the SAT’s 30th anniversary, Fontaine offers a new version of the scenario, enriched by the presence of two monumental robots inspired by her installation LIGHT ME, presented in 2019 at the Fête des Lumières in Lyon. This new iteration deepens the original concept by bringing together images, sound, and robotics to create a powerful, sensitive and immersive experience.
