The Quebec duo Grand Eugène, made up of Melyssa Lemieux and Jeremy Lachance, moves between the urgency to create and memories that are difficult to express.

Their debut album, Deux places au cimetière, reveals an agile indie rock sound that shifts with their moods—both gentle and fierce. Their paths have crossed since their CEGEP days, through Montreal apartments and across Western Canada. In 2023, they released a self-titled debut EP with a clear intention: to offer a dreamy indie sound carried by Melyssa’s whispered vocals and Jeremy’s subtle arrangements.

Songs like Celle-là and Danser quickly racked up hundreds of thousands of streams, capturing the attention of music lovers both locally and in Europe. In 2024, they unveiled the EP Les vacances d’été, which they brought to stages across Quebec—including major festivals like Festival d'été de Québec, Les Francos de Montréal, Santa Teresa, and Festival de musique émergente—as well as on tour in France.

With Deux places au cimetière, Grand Eugène delivers a debut record with almost grunge-like tones, where love songs flirt with kitsch and dry humor. Recorded between Saint-Hugues, Montreal, Paris, and Jeremy’s old van—sometimes with nothing more than a laptop microphone—these songs allow their music to grow anywhere, like a flower on a gravestone.
