Every creative work often springs from a sense of wonder. A book, a film, a song, or a work of art that stays with us, transforms us, and inspires us to create in turn. With these “Exercices d'admiration,” the FIL invites writers and artists from all disciplines to share this foundational fascination. Here, admiration becomes the starting point for a conversation about creativity, influences, connections, and the works that shape us. Some of these encounters extend the resonance of the performances presented at the Festival, offering the audience another way to enter their world.
Wednesday, September 23 – THE BOOKS THAT SPARKED A FESTIVAL
To mark the opening of this 32nd edition, Michelle Corbeil and Jérémie Niel reveal some of the books that have left a mark on them, accompanied them, and inspired them—and that have sometimes been the very source of a performance, a meeting, or an invitation to the Festival.
Friday, September 25 – GABRIELLE ROY, STILL ALIVE
More than eighty years after its publication, *Bonheur d’occasion* continues to inspire readings, creative works, and reinterpretations. Joined three artists, three perspectives and three artistic practices to explore just how a great work can continue to live on, circulate, and transform.
Thursday, October 1 – WHAT INSPIRES US TO CREATE
Four writers open their personal libraries and discuss a work that has profoundly shaped their careers or fueled their own creative work. A conversation about admiration, influences, and artistic connections.
