Summer is finally here! When the heat rises thirst soon follows – and there’s no better place to quench it than on a terrasse. If you’re looking for the perfect place to sit down with your friends and enjoy a sunny drink in the Quartier des Spectacles, here are seven inviting terrasses to check out this summer.

Parvis | Furco

433 and 425 Mayor St.

A few dozen metres north of Sainte-Catherine St., tiny Mayor St. has two terrasses that are well worth the detour. The neighbours complement each other: by day, enjoy an al fresco coffee or snack at Café Parvis, and in the evening head to Furco for cocktails, organic wine and an elegant bite to eat.

Honeyrose

355 de Maisonneuve Blvd. W.

The Honeyrose is a new hotel with a 1920s inspiration, including breathtaking luxurious décor by designer Zébulon Perron. Make your way to the fifth floor and you’ll find the Muze Lounge & terrasse, an urban garden. The rooftop lounge serves delicious California-style cuisine. From Wednesday through Sunday, DJs spin up a great party vibe!

Bivouac

1255 Jeanne-Mance St.

A relatively new craft cocktail bar and modern bistro, Bivouac has wasted no time becoming a Quartier des Spectacles fixture thanks to its menu of original dishes celebrating Quebec’s terroir. Local products are the star of the show, along with ingredients highlighting more distant regions. Bivouac’s terrasse boasts a panoramic view of Place des Festivals, making it a unique downtown spot.

Restaurant Galaxie

1414 Clark St.

This new European-style brasserie on Esplanade Tranquille stands out for its colourful and festive dining room. It’s a restaurant first and foremost, so most patrons go there to dine, but you’re more than welcome to sip a delicious cocktail on the terrasse. Chef Guillaume Lepage’s menu features French and North American classics made with plenty of local produce.

L’Abreuvoir

403 Ontario St. E.

Founded in 2009, L’Abreuvoir recently revamped its backyard terrasse by adding greenery to give it a younger feel, making it more welcoming and pleasant than ever. Couples and friends come here to hang out and choose from the long cocktail list and delicious summer menu, whose many options include larger plates for sharing.

St-Houblon

1567 Saint-Denis St.

This bar is a favourite of beer lovers thanks to its large and ever-changing menu of microbrewery products. There’s also a great selection of places to sit, thanks to two terrasses: one on bustling Saint-Denis St. and a quieter one facing the Grande Bibliothèque. Either is a perfect place to soak up the Quartier Latin’s distinctive atmosphere.

Jardins Gamelin

Place Émilie-Gamelin

Until September 17

The terrasse in the Jardins is not only one of Montreal’s biggest and greenest, it also presents daily cultural programming – all original and free. This welcoming urban oasis maintains a cheerful summer ambiance. The Casse-croûte, operated by Les Survenants, offers an appetizing selection of snacks and refreshments to be enjoyed amidst the urban agriculture plantings.
