PRESS RELEASE

16th Edition of LUMINO: Returning to Illuminate Winter in the Heart of Montreal

November 27, 2025, to March 8 2026

Montreal, August 12, 2025 November 27 this year marks the return of LUMINO! The event’s 16th edition is sure to dazzle as it transforms the Quartier des Spectacles and downtown Montreal with some 20 amazing new works, including the world premiere of Climat intérieur by Mirari. The Quartier des Spectacles Partnership invites Montrealers and visitors to immerse themselves in this unique winter experience in which art and light energize the city.

The works — luminous, participatory, contemplative — will be installed in fifteeen indoor and outdoor cultural venues and public spaces in the Quartier des Spectacles and downtown Montreal. The event highlights the tremendous creativity of local and global artists, and offers plenty of opportunities to enjoy winter to the fullest. The public can also choose from several family-oriented activities on theme of light.

LUMINO is a not-to-be-missed tourist attraction and Montreal winter event! During the 15th edition, over 2 million people enjoyed local and international works by more than 20 artists and a dozen creative studios.

LUMINO is made possible by the financial support of the Ville de Montréal, Tourisme Montréal and the Gouvernement du Québec.

A Mirari World Premiere

Montreal-based creative studio Mirari, designers of high-profile projects such as the Canadian pavilion at Expo 2025 in Osaka, presents a new contemplative installation exploring the sensitive interaction between meteorological phenomena and human emotions. The world premiere of the new installation, called Climat intérieur, invites visitors to peer into four luminous portholes in a retro-futuristic structure, through which they will see a model of a house subjected to different weather events. Each capsule presents a unique scene accompanied by poetic videos and an original soundtrack created for the work.

Four windows, one house, four ways of experiencing the world. Don’t miss it this winter in the Quartier des Spectacles.

The complete program for the 16th edition of LUMINO will be announced this fall.
