Part of the official 2026 Journées de la culture program, this event invites families to enjoy a unique musical experience at St. James United Church, a National Historic Site of Canada. Designed especially for young audiences and their families, this festive concert will feature Les Flûtistes de Montréal, a professional ensemble led by Judy Diez d’Aux.
Through a dynamic and accessible program, audiences will discover the rich and fascinating family of flutes. From the tiny piccolo to the impressive contrabass flute, the musicians will introduce a variety of instruments with surprising shapes and sounds. The repertoire, featuring classical works, chamber music, and popular pieces, will allow children and adults alike to discover the many colours and textures of this unique ensemble.
Designed as an engaging and interactive experience, the concert will give families an opportunity to learn more about wind instruments, how they work, and their role in music-making. Young listeners will be encouraged to observe, listen, and ask questions in a warm and welcoming atmosphere.
To enrich the experience, an optional guided tour of St. James United Church will be offered at 1:30 p.m., 30 minutes before the 2:00 p.m. concert. Participants will discover the history, architecture, and remarkable heritage of this iconic downtown Montreal landmark.
A welcoming cultural experience designed to spark curiosity, stimulate imagination, and help the whole family discover music in a new way.
