April 6, 2009

Main text of post

With his characteristic enthusiasm and determination, Pierre Fortin has become the new general manager of the Quartier des spectacles Partnership. He brings an understanding of the different development issues in the Quartier des spectacles, and a clear vision of its coming challenges.

Pierre Fortin has a strong background in management and communication marketing. As vice-president for marketing at the Old Port of Montreal Corporation from 2001 to 2008, he led the rebranding of the Montreal Science Centre and the Quays of the Old Port. Throughout his career, Mr. Fortin has shown versatility in managing complex and challenging development projects, in both the private and public sectors. After founding community radio station CIBL-FM, where he was executive director from 1977 to 1981, he spent seven years working in communications and marketing management for a Canadian financial institution. From 1988 to 1995, he was head of the communications team for public consultation on the Master Plan of the City of Montreal.

Joining Bell Canada in 1995, Mr. Fortin created Bell's first marketing communications unit dedicated to the business market. Before his departure in 2001, he represented Bell in the development of the Quartier International de Montréal project.

The post of executive director has been vacant since the departure of Pierre Deschênes in June 2008. Anjali Mishra, development director, has served as the interim general manager during the nine months of the transition.
