A play by Slimane Benaïssa (Algeria)

Presented in French

When you look at the path followed by kamikazes and at their motivations, when you see the harm they cause, once the shock wears off, assuming it ever does, you get the impression that this is farce. We are in such a state of stupefaction that we believe we have been through an unreal world. What is the reality of these crimes?

With this play, “Trois jours avant... l’heure”, we have made an attempt at farce, in our own way, with all the respect we owe the victims and their kin, victims who are also our kin, considering the shock.

“Trois jours avant... l’heure” is a play that tells of the material, “religious” and mental preparations by two kamikazes who are about to commit an attack.

It’s the reverse side of what we wanted to reveal. What lies behind their apparent determinism? What about their preparations or such evil purposes? What about the logical underlying radicalization? What is the link between the religious and the ideological? What lies behind a mad act, for a desperate cause?
