Information on the activity

Dates to come

Charbel Rouhana, a renowned master of the oud, composer and performer, returns to Montréal to participate for the third time in the Festival du Monde Arabe and offer us a unique performance, accompanied by the Canadian Arabic Orchestra.

A prolific artist with 13 albums to his credit, this instigator of new techniques for learning the oud and recipient of numerous awards shows an unmatched sensibility. Charbel Rouhana also lends his talents to a pronounced taste for the demanding world of learned music, which does not prevent him from working abundantly with more popular compositions that he sprinkles with committed lyrics.

His distinguished taste for musical exploration brings him to the most far-flung boundaries of jazz sounds that he is happy to blend with Arab folklore. This is the arena, with its diverse musical hues, in which the 14 musicians and 12 choristers of the Canadian Arabic Orchestra will dialogue with Charbel Rouhana in an osmosis that emphasizes the repertory of this renowned oud player.

This concert is part of a partnership between the Festival du Monde Arabe and Toronto’s emerging Festival of Arabic Music and Arts, the initiator of which is none other than the Canadian Arabic Orchestra, a true bearer of Arab culture on the Canadian artistic landscape.
