SHABAKA AND THE ANCESTORS

While London tenor saxophonist and composer Shabaka Hutchings may be an inheritor of the American free jazz tradition (Coltrane, Haden, Sanders, Sun Ra), he also holds African and Caribbean music high on his list of influences. After sharing the stage with The Comet Is Coming last year, Hutchings and his three Ancestors arrive with "The Wisdom of Elders", an album they describe as Afrofuturist.
