Mayor Gerald Tremblay of Montreal, the Honourable Michael Fortier, Minister of Public Works and Government Services and minister responsible for the region of Montreal, and Premier Jean Charest of Quebec,
used the occasion of the Rendez-vous novembre 2007 – Montréal, métropole culturelle to announce that they will finance the Special Planning Program of the Quartier des spectacles with $40 million from each level of government.
The plan, developed by the team of the Quartier International de Montréal, will extend over four years and transform the Place des Arts area. It is a crucial step in positioning Montreal as an international cultural destination, and the Partnership applauds this green light for the development of the future Quartier des spectacles.
