New York post-punk Bootblacks (Arttofact) have been enthralling live audiences from the U.S. to Europe since their formation in 2010. Bootblacks sound is ably described as a balance of contradictions, pensive and buoyant, referential and modern. The City Gates
Hailing from Montreal, Canada, The City Gates are making a name for themselves with their dynamic hybrid of post-punk and shoegaze sounds that heap on the reverb, fuzz, and delay. On the live front, The City Gates has recently played the amazing shoegaze/post-punk Kalamashogazer 13 festival in Michigan alongside a cast from across North America, including Blushing, New Canyons, and Tambourina. The band has toured throughout Canada, the US, and the UK, played the Kalamashoegazer, CMW and Focus Wales fesivals and has shared the stage with iconic French cold wave band Trisomie 21, Actors, Bootblacks, New Canyons, Deserta, Blushing The Foreign Resort, Nothing, Did You Die, Heaters, shoegaze veterans The Veldt, and many more. Their most recent album, Forever Orbiter, was released in April 2018 via Northern Light Records to great critical and fan acclaim. Brett Miller from Somewherecold magazine genuinely described the LP as “a gorgeous mix of melancholy and euphoria as heard on the Joy Division-inspired ‘Echo Radio’, complete with Max Wingender’s throaty Ian Curtis-like delivery, ‘Checkpoint Charlie’s impending storm of distant vocals and textured guitars, and the upbeat tempo of ‘Sad Sad Surf’ that builds slowly, drawing you in until the shimmering guitars blast away the grey clouds to reveal a warm sunny day.” Forever Orbiter premiered at The Big Takeover Magazine and in-the know shoegaze and post-punk sites/blogs and featured on several top 2018 album charts.


Kiss of the Whip (USA, Cold Transmission)
KISS OF THE WHIP is a dark electronic project formed by Montreal-born artist and producer Tristan Victor in 2017 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. His first two albums, "Like Love Only Real" (self-released, 2018) and "New Lows" (Diffuse Reality Records, 2018) were rooted in darkwave, post-punk, and dark electro. The project quickly gained an underground following in Europe and the United States, and following a 2020 signing to German Cold Transmission Music, Victor is bringing his darkly uplifting sounds to an increasing variety of audiences.
