Slide down the new refrigerated hill in the Quartier des Spectacles

Montreal, January 8, 2025 – The Quartier des Spectacles Partnership is pleased to announce the return of Les Glissades Gamelin, the urban sliding facility in the Quartier des Spectacles. Every Wednesday through Sunday from January 16 to March 9, this unique space welcomes families and friends for free to go sledding on one of the four lanes of the new refrigerated hill or ride a snowskate or snow scooter down the two other hills in Place Émilie-Gamelin! Afterwards, get together in the heated chalet, L’Après-glisse, to soak up the warm ambiance. With its three hills and six runs, Les Glissades Gamelin are the ideal winter playground in downtown Montreal. They are part of the Quartier des Spectacles’ extensive winter program, alongside the popular Esplanade Tranquille skating rink and the new edition of LUMINO.

Three hills and six runs to embrace snow sports

This year, kids and adults will be able to sled down one of the four lanes of the new five-metre-high refrigerated hill, La FOMO – a new addition that will delight sledders of all ages! The gentler slope of La MOLLO, designed for snowskates and snow scooters, will appeal to beginners. On weekends, younger visitors can benefit from the guidance of an assistant who will introduce them to the joys of sliding. La YOLO is a steeper hill where more experienced sliders will find bigger thrills. Visitors can bring their own approved equipment or take advantage of free loans, allowing them to appreciate the joys of Montreal’s winter in a fun and inviting setting.

A chalet with a warm winter ambiance

Après avoir profité des pentes, le public pourra venir se réchauffer et se retrouver pour un moment de détente dans le nouveau chalet chauffé L’Après-Glisse et se laisser tenter par une gourmandise ou une boisson chaude au comptoir du Café Tranquille. Dans une ambiance musicale dynamique et pensée spécifiquement pour l’endroit, diverses animations et défis spontanés seront proposés par un animateur de foule les jeudis et les samedis. Les plus jeunes auront accès à un petit parcours d’hébertisme en bois. Des jeux de poches seront également installés.
