The Quartier des Spectacles Partnership announces its Board of Directors for 2019-20

Press release - For Immediate Release

Montreal, April 25, 2019 – The Quartier des Spectacles Partnership is pleased to announce the composition of its board of directors for 2019-20. The directors were elected at the annual general meeting on April 24, 2019, held at the new creative centre of the 7 doigts de la main collective, on Saint-Laurent Blvd. The Partnership’s board comprises 21 directors from the cultural, socio-economic (business, tourism, education) and community sectors. There are 14 directors elected at the annual general meeting, and 7 appointed by the board.

This year, there were five open seats for directors from the cultural sector. They were filled by Annie Derome, Marcel Jean, Claude Joli-Cœur, Nassib El-Husseini and Jean-Louis Roy. For the three vacancies for the socio-economic and community sectors, the Partnership welcomes three new directors: Michelle Llambías Meunier, Émile Roux and Marie-Christine Therrien.

The Partnership thanks all members of the board for their generous participation and extends special thanks to this year’s outgoing directors: Lorraine Pintal, Michel Sabourin, Marc Blondeau, Monique Goyette, Jean-Claude Chabot, Alain Grégoire, Arnaud Larsonneur, Philip O’Dwyer and Sandra O’Connor.

“Speaking for myself and on behalf of my fellow members of the Partnership’s board, I wish to highlight the exceptional contributions of Ms. Pintal and Mr. Sabourin, who are completing their service with the board after 15 and 13 years, respectively. Their tireless enthusiasm and dedication to the advancement of the Quartier have been an inspiration to us all, motivating us to always do better. Lastly, I salute all of the Partnership’s directors and members. We have not only the good fortune, but the great responsibility, of overseeing the Quartier’s evolution. It is a process that always presents new challenges as we strive to keep the neighbourhood vital for all Montrealers, as well as our visitors,” said Jacques Primeau, chair of the Quartier des Spectacles Partnership’s board of directors.

ACTIVITY REPORT: 2018 HIGHLIGHTS

Throughout the year, the Partnership’s hard work made it possible for the Quartier’s public spaces to host bold and original activities and events. The months of August and September were particularly exciting, with the street art exhibition Surfaces, the Instrument à vent interactive installation and the participatory event Construisons monumental ! For a fourth season, Les Jardins Gamelin presented four months of activities reflecting Montreal’s artistic and cultural diversity.

The data sharing initiative led by the Partnership rounded into form with the creation of the Hub for Data in Culture. The export of the Partnership’s productions also continued, giving creators significant international exposure, including a first work exhibited in Asia. Lastly, 2018 was the 15th anniversary of the founding of the Quartier des Spectacles Partnership.
