Summer fun in the Quartier des Spectacles

This summer, you’re the star! We’ve set the stage for you to have a ton of safe summer fun in the Quartier. After a refreshing stroll, take a break in one of the district’s many charming spaces, or have a snack on a terrasse. And stay alert, because there might just be a show happening around the next corner!

Here’s what you’ll find on our 1-km2 site:

  • Our DNA public art installations on Promenade des Artistes

  • Les Jardins Gamelin, transformed with lots of room for having fun

  • The fountains at Place des Festivals

  • Two designated spaces at either end of Place des Festivals: one for chilling to original music by Patrick Watson, and a patio area for enjoying dishes from area restaurants and taking in spontaneous performances

  • Picnic tables decorated with illustrations by six local artists (Romain Boz, Delphie Côté-Lacroix, Mathieu Labrecque, Mathieu Potvin, Amélie Tourangeau and Lateef Martin), a Quartier des Spectacles Partnership production in collaboration with BAnQ, produced by MU.

  • Surprise artistic performances, specially put together by a team of 60 creators and cultural partners, that bring the square to life from Thursdays to Sundays

  • Mélanie Crespin’s original installation Dans ma cour... ç’a du chien!, back on Sainte-Catherine Street for a third edition, just like the giant chess game!

ENJOY THE QUARTIER WHILE FOLLOWING PUBLIC HEALTH GUIDELINES

The entirety of the 2020 summer program and related urban design elements have been implemented to make it practical to follow public health guidelines, particularly those regarding distancing. These experiences allow people to live and play in the Quartier des Spectacles safely. The Partnership encourages all Montrealers to follow government recommendations for preventing the spread of COVID-19.
