The Parterre will be graced with a work of public art.

A Canada-wide contest for the artwork has been launched by the City of Montreal, and its $626,000 budget will help give the future public place of the Quartier des spectacles its own unique signature.

Artists who wish to participate in the contest will have until August 7 to submit their proposals. The winning proposal, to be selected by a prominent jury including Quartier des spectacles Partnership Executive Director Pierre Fortin, will be announced in November 2009. The artwork must be completed by the end of 2010, just after the completion of the Parterre, which is currently under construction.
