Place des Arts’s Hall des Pas Perdus will soon be refurbished as the “Grand Foyer culturel”, thanks to a 12,5 million dollar investment from Quebec’s ministère de la Culture, des Communications et de la Condition féminine du Québec.
The project includes four new light wells to diminish the cavernous effect of the current passageway, better identification of the five cultural venues and new video equipment to allow live performances and multimedia presentations. Renovations also include a brand new main entrance on Sainte-Catherine Street, the primary route to explore the Quartier des spectacles’s cultural activities.
Beyond technical improvements, the Place des Arts’s Grand Foyer culturel will also serve to democratize culture, as the estimated 35,000 people who use the passageway daily will benefit from a new gathering place featuring varied and eclectic cultural programming.
