With its many performance venues and show bars, the Quartier des Spectacles has plenty of ways to celebrate the start of 2015. Here are 10 ideas for a great New Year’s experience. Ready, set, party!
December 30, 8:30 p.m. Club Soda
Before officially kicking off the NYE festivities, progressive folk band Le Vent du Nord, with Michel Bordeleau, a string quartet and “calleur-gigueur” Jean-François Berthiaume will have Club Soda hopping for this 18th annual pre-New Year’s party. Also featuring the band Hommage aux Aînés, from Lanaudière.
December 31, 6 p.m. L’Escalier
New Year’s Eve celebrations at this cozy Sainte-Catherine St. bar will have an Irish accent this year thanks to Belfast Andi, as well as Gypsy and bluegrass sounds from Swift Years.
December 31, 9 p.m. Théâtre Telus
Calls itself one of Montreal’s most glamourous New Year’s parties. Théâtre Telus will become a massive dance floor, hosting a party sure to be chic and wild in equal measures.
December 31, 9 p.m. Club Soda
This 16th annual open-bar New Year’s party is sure to be one of the most festive gatherings in the Quartier.
December 31, 9 p.m. Katacombes
Katacombes welcomes revellers to an explosive evening of music and dancing with: ska, punk, rock and reggae.
December 31, 10 p.m. Society for Arts and Technology (SAT)
The SAT and Satosphère dance floors are sure to be packed for this evening of electronica. Harvard Bass, Bordello, Kyle Kalma and Prison Garde, among others, will provide the beats.
December 31, 10 p.m. Métropolis
To ring in the New Year, Métropolis will become a massive nightclub. Twenty DJs will spin everything from R&B and house to electronica and hip-hop. On the giant screen: the traditional countdown, live from Times Square.
December 31 Foufounes électriques
The Sainte-Catherine St. institution will have two DJs playing music for every taste, free champagne at midnight and special prizes all night long.

January 1, 10:30 p.m. Bistro à Jojo
After ringing in the New Year with blues and rock courtesy of the Marshalls, the famous Saint-Denis St. bar will host a more sedate New Year’s Day evening with Marc Fecteau, Bruce Cameron and Gilbert Charlebois playing acoustic sets.
