Yesterday, Place des Arts officially cut the ribbon on the Espace culturel George-Émilie-Lapalme. What was once an endless, labyrinthine corridor has magnificently metamorphosed into a pleasant space that will welcome shows, conferences, presentations, workshops and exhibits throughout the year.
Besides the name, what else is new? A daringly contemporary ticket window, for one; a totally new exhibition space, for another. Not to mention a central space for performances, a hip new wine bar -- Place Deschamps -- that has its own small stage, plus a central corridor that has been completely overhauled.
Why did we do it? To make the arts that much more accessible to all Montrealers. So keep an eye on your calendar in the coming months, you're going to see plenty of fascinating new things to do.
