November 9, 2010

Main text of post

The distinctive luminous signature of the Quartier des spectacles, a double line of red dots, now graces six more establishments: Café Chaos, the Centre Pierre-Péladeau de l'UQAM, the CinéRobothèque at the NFB, the Gesù, les Katacombes and Théâtre Telus. They are following the luminous pathway of the Quartier des spectacles, which identifies and reveals cultural venues to passersby.

The next time you go to the Quartier des spectacles and you spot red dots of light on the sidewalk, look up: you'll be at one of the 80 venues in the cultural heart of your metropolis. To discover all the richness of the neighbourhood, just follow the red dots!

The luminous signature has been installed at sixteen locations so far. Over time, all the cultural venues of the Quartier des spectacles will be equipped with this lighting, rolling out a playful and dynamic red carpet for visitors and indicating the presence of a cultural venue at the pedestrian scale. Its conception respects Dark Sky principles for protecting the view of the stars in the night sky and favoring the use of energy-saving technologies.

The luminous signature is the creation of Axel Morgenthaler from Photonic Dreams, following artistic orientations set by Ruedi Baur and Jean Beaudoin of the Intégral firm.
