With over 100 indoor and outdoor activities packed into one square kilometre of the city, the Quartier des Spectacles will be the place to be for this festive night.
Here’s a look at some of the outdoor activities planned :
Start out in the Quartier Latin at the east of the Quartier des Spectacles, which is shining brightly as a cultural hotspot this year.
Two night architects from Lyon have teamed up to make the former Saint-Jacques Church at UQAM a beacon in the night with their creation: ...Un point, c'est tout!. The tallest church tower in Montreal will shine out to All-Nighter visitors with a vibrant and dynamic new lighting design with points sliding across the wall to emphasize its verticality and display animated graphics.
A few steps away, at Place Pasteur, the Rendez-vous du cinéma québécois is presenting films outdoors for the first time. You can enter the world of the legendary snow fort from La guerre des tuques, or take in a program of films specially concocted for this unique night. For more information, click here.
Your route continues to the west via Sainte-Catherine Street, the axis of discovery of the Quartier des Spectacles. During their stroll, festivalgoers can check out the many cultural venues that are illuminated as part of the Quartier des spectacles Lighting Plan. One of them, the Monument-National, is celebrating the festival with a sound and light show.
La Vitrine is your official information centre for the whole night. The doors will be open from 11PM to 3AM to give you the details on what’s going on and where, and give you a chance to play with the luminous forms on its interactive façade.
You can end your walk at the Place des Festivals, in the west end of the Quartier des Spectacles, but your night will still be going strong. The Montreal High Lights team has a full slate of activities there throughout the festival, and lots of things to do for the All Nighter, from virtual graffiti to outdoor line dancing.
