Cody ChesnuTT came to our attention in 2002 thanks to The Seed (2.0), recorded with The Roots, the original version appearing on his debut album, The Headphone Masterpiece. It would take a decade for the singer-guitarist to return with a fulllength, Landing on a Hundred, an album of classic R&B evoking early-’70s Marvin Gaye and confirming his superior talent. It’s vintage ChesnuTT, less raw than the earlier music, but no less fantastically inspiring.
