PAUL À QUÉBEC
Information on the activity
February 19, 2016 | 18 H
It all starts on St. Jean weekend in 1999. Paul (a soft, glowing François Létourneau), his wife, their daughter and their extended family go to visit Roland (Gilbert Sicotte as a heartbreaking patriarch) and his wife Lisette in Saint-Nicolas, near Quebec City. It all begins, and it all ends. While there’s certainly joy, no one can deny it any longer: Roland is sick, and the result is inevitable. In this fine, sensitive adaptation of Michel Rabagliati’s graphic novel, François Bouvier (Jacques et novembre) embraces a sincere, authentic, simple approach to a universal human drama. Supported by the energetic but melancholy music of Benoit Charest, Paul à Québec is a warm and humble paean to life that goes straight to the heart.
