A beloved star of the European stage, Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui charms spectators the world over with mosaic pieces that are a fusion of arts and cultures. He enthralled Montreal audiences with the Shaolin monks of Sutra and the powerful trilogy consisting of Foi, Myth and Babel(words). In m¡longa he transports us with his images of a Buenos Aires teeming with life, presenting 10 masters of Argentine tango, a duo of contemporary dancers and five musicians playing live. In a ballroom he eulogizes the essence of tango, revealing its hidden facets. Back to back – one man with two women, five couples as one, three men together – in the round and on the ground, each outdoes the other in dexterity, mastery and sensuality, performing complex figures and spectacular lifts. A contagious fever.
