ALEJANDRA RIBERA

"Eclectic" is the word that best describes Alejandra Ribera and her repertoire. Born in Toronto, she's the daughter of an Argentinian waiter and a Scottish actress. As a child, she studied violin, viola and choral music, and grew up listening to Mercedes Sosa, Odetta and Jimmy Scott. As evidenced by her debut album, NavigatorNavigateher (2011), she performs a wide range of music: from Latin folk songs to cabaret tunes sung in French and Spanish, from jazz numbers to her own alternative pop compositions. She lays claim to influences that are equally diverse: Rufus Wainwright, Björk, Chavela Vargas and Bette Midler. La boca came out in 2014.
