"Chasing Waterfalls" is an audiovisual installation created by Hidden Edges, a collective composed of Lucas Paris and Myriam Bleau. It consists of a twisted screen structure with an unconventional, fluid and organic shape, which evokes a suspended waterfall. AI generated animations of flowing water, seemingly organic but machine made, slowly decompose into pixelated flows of information and data patterns. While the mainstream unfolds on the surface of the structure, ephemeral elements are revealed on different intersecting planes using anamorphic effects, thus only meaningful when seen from a specific angle. As the title is a nod to the 90s TLC song, the work playfully questions the relentless pursuit towards dematerialized information, especially through machine learning and the fast encoding of human knowledge within models barely larger than 1GB.

Video, sound, industrial design, concept: Lucas Paris and Myriam Bleau
