After escaping a Lebanese refugee camp, two Palestinian cousins trying to reach Germany find themselves stuck in Athens. They engage in various schemes to raise money for fake passports but soon find themselves caught up in a downward spiral that takes them further and further from their quest to safety and happiness. With authenticity and tension, this first feature by Danish-Palestinian director Mahdi Fleifel portrays a life where even the slightest misadventure leads to deportation. Nervously shot in the unhealthy alleyways and squats of the Greek capital, this tragic thriller impresses with its mastery and the heartfelt performances of Mahmood Bakri and Aram Sabbah.
