Aïcha lives on a farm in northern Tunisia with her husband and youngest son. Her two eldest sons disappeared to join jihad in Syria. Stoic and shattered, she hopes for their safe return… Extending the world of her award-winning short film "Brotherhood" (FNC 2018), Meryam Joobeur has made an impressive first feature film where intensity and emotion build to a crescendo. The mastery of direction is accompanied by images of sublime beauty with dreamlike and supernatural touches. Through a family torn apart by violence and silence, the film provides a unique perspective on fanaticism, war, and the madness of men.
