From the world of the living to that of the dead, the improbable journey of an unscrupulous and slightly bewildered real estate baron, whose mercantile ambitions clash with local popular resistance, takes shape. From the Spanish conquest of the territorial dispossession of the peasants, this totally unclassifiable film goes from surprise to surprise. Packed with outrage and bloody twists and turns, it explodes with baroque formal opulence and gleefully denounces systemic violence through absurdity and excess. An acerbic and hilarious critique of voracious capitalism and colonial history, full of action and hemoglobin.
