THE CANADIAN BACON QUINTET (MANITOBA)
Guided tour of St James Church, a historic site in Canada, and discussion with the artists on the menu!
The Canadian Bacon quintet, which will come from Manitoba to perform at St James, has chosen a program of Canadian works in order to promote local music and to align with the values of the St James music department.
In order to make current music more accessible and understandable to the general public, each work will be presented to the public by its composer (who is still alive!) or by a member of the ensemble, before its performance. Following the interpretation of each work, some of which exemplify little-known and advanced techniques, listeners will have the opportunity to ask questions of the composers and performers.
The quintet will remain on site after the concert in order to continue meeting with the public in an informal manner. Having a lot of experience with cultural mediation in Manitoba, the five members of "Canadian Bacon" will offer a demonstration of their respective instruments to children who wish.
