AKLR 2.0 is an ongoing research project and an audiovisual staged performance which aims to develop a live akelarre cyborg. The performance studies the potential of witchcraft in a biopower era. ALKR 2.0 is a science-fiction world where plants sing, bodies mutate and machines have sex. Witches’ covens (akelarres) become sites for the manipulation of symbols, bodies, objects, signs and environments—for the modification of the world. The akelarre is not a demonstration of what the witches are, nor is it a place where participants pretend to be witches: the akelarre is the very process of becoming-witch. During the performance, Quimera Rosa & Transnoise develop an akelarre cyborg using a variety of prosthetics and technologies. By taking on these hybrid identities, they attempt to escape an infinite list of dichotomies such as natural/artificial, machine/human, man/woman, homo/hetero, art/life, science/pre-technology, etc. AKLR 2.0 is an audiovisual study of alternative relationships between humans, plants and machines, and between bodies, prosthetics and data. Sounds will be generated via sensors, contact microphones and handmade synthesizers that reveal the inaudible music of bodies and plants.
