STÉPHANE LA RUE : FLÂNER ET FAIRE SURFACE

From September 9 to October 14, 2023.

While continuing his research on the physical space of painting, Stéphane La Rue deepens with “Flâner et faire surface” the abstract space of what makes an image. Even if the sources of his drawings are referential, it remains difficult to discern the provenance of the new corpus.

Inspired by his formal exploration of the floors of Italian churches, these drawings move away from the original photographs so the eyes can roam those floors on the surface, where the play of textures and thicknesses reveal the complexity of their constructions.
