SHAHEER ZAZAI : ALLOW ME TO SOW AND SEE THE GARDEN I BECOME

From August 31 to October 1, 2023.

Through mimicking carpet-making methods, Afghan-Canadian artist, Shaheer Zazai, creates his own designs in Microsoft Word, where every knot is translated into a typed character.

For this exhibition, Shaheer finds himself reflecting on Afghanistan’s long relationship with weapons and conflict, while simultaneously researching gardening in war zones. He gently nudges at hope by using the garden as a metaphor in order to question who we could become if we were supplied a different seed than war.
