This Festival closing concert highlights Tchaikovsky's relationship with his patroness Nadezhda von Meck. Discover her unique role as the muse of one of the greatest romantic composers ever: Piotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky.
As the grand finale of the 28th MCMF, we create a unique program showing Tchaikovsky's genius and the feminine influences behind it.
Michèle Marchand has combed through more than 700 letters of intimate communication between Tchaikovsky and von Meck. They create an enticing script. The result is a collection of poignant exchanges which highlight Tchaikovsky’s thoughts and reveal the emotional message of the man behind the music.
On the program are two masterworks: Tchaikovsky Trio Op. 50 and his remarkable sextet Souvenir de Florence in a transcription created especially for this concert by our Artistic Director, Denis Brott for a string ensemble featuring 17 exceptional virtuosi.
The combination of inciteful words and exquisite music makes for an intoxicating combination which will lead to an emotionally charged, unique event. Do not miss this 2023 Festival closing event!
