Taking its name from a Renaissance treatise by a doctor who was the first to cut into flesh for the benefit of science, the latest documentary from Paravel and Castaing-Taylor is a fantasic voyage inside the human body. Through miniature cameras, we watch a caesarean birth, a cataract operation, a prostatectomy and other procedures, literally from the inside. This in-depth journey, practically beyond words, is interspersed with commentary by doctors at work. A cinematic experience that also tackles important moral issues about the decline of our bodies, the medical system, empathy and care.
