QUILAPAYUN DU CHILI EN CONCERT

The Chilean group Quilapayun last visited Montreal more than three decades ago, when they played packed concert halls, warmly welcomed by Gilles Vigneault, Pauline Julien, Paul Piché and Claude Gauthier at Théâtre Saint-Denis and performing a second show to an enthusiastic crowd at Place des Arts. After living in exile in France, the group returned to Chile. Now, at a moment of promising political change in that country, with the hope for a new Constitution and the renewal of democracy, Montreal audiences will have an opportunity to hear Quilapayun in concert once again.
Quilapayún is Chile's most politically engaged musical ensemble. Long beloved and respected by Quebecers and Canadians who feel a sense of solidarity with international struggles for democracy and human rights, Quilapayún continues to shine today with its socially committed music, performed in concert around the world for more than 30 years. The group’s return to Quebec will be a farewell tour, an occasion to reconnect one last time with their Montreal public and the Chilean community in Montreal.
