In 2021, Lara Klaus earned Silver at the Syli de la musique du monde as well as the Conseil des arts de Montréal’s Coup de cœur prize. Imbued with both muted and energetic beats, which she draws from a wide range of Brazilian percussion instruments such as the pandeiro, alfaia and zabumba, Lara Klaus’s music divinely combines rhythms from her native northeastern Brazil with American soul and Afro-Latin inflections.
