QUITAPENAS

The music of this Californian group, whose members are of Guatemalan and Mexican heritage, evokes a festival vibe reminiscent of the Coachella and SXSW, at which they have already performed. Their festive roots music is totally hip, festive, bright and uplifting, a perfect mix of engaging and engaged.

Raw, folkloric, with strong cumbia overtones, a good dose of Latin and African beats and fierce guitar riffs and synth, their sound incorporates colourful world rhythms such as Afro-Columbian champeta, Congolese soukous, Cape Verdean funaná, Angolan semba, Puerto Rican plena and Cuban salsa, all of which the musicians blend with ease.
