Tilman Reiff and Volker Morawe have created an ironic work dealing with the promise of a pseudo-multichannel present. OIS, part of the ZKM’s Art on your Screen project, takes a look back at the basics of communication through simple means: installations consisting of 60W light bulbs and light switches will be located at both the Zentrum für Kunst und Medientechnologie Karlsruhe (ZKM) and the Goethe-Institut.

While one can turn on the lamps virtually through the web interface, they can only be turned off manually at the ZKM or Goethe-Institut. This experimental set-up takes apart the idea of the possibility of multiple, simultaneous exchanges through one dimensionality.

//////////fur//// art entertainment interfaces

Since 2001, the artist duo //////////fur//// (Volker Morawe/Tilman Reiff) has been creating multi-sensory artefacts related to the construction and social aspects of computer game culture. Their interactive installations combine game-logic, media criticism, apparatus parody and childhood memories into engaging man-machine experiences, often altering the view on the relationship between man and technology. Besides alternative-user interface humour, group experience and hormones are key elements of their work.

Their work has been awarded numerous prizes and been exhibited from street fairs to modern art museums throughout the world.
