CHAMBER MUSIC CONCERT FOR TRUMPET AND PIANO

Swedish-Canadian trumpeter Mikaela Tolf will premiere two commissioned works for trumpet and piano that explore an equal musical partnership between the instruments. Each of the two works lasts around 15 minutes and includes 5 different character movements that showcase different harmonies and melodies through a kaleidoscope of timbre, sonic density, spectrum, and textures.

M. Tolf has performed with several ensembles in Sweden, including the Immanuel Brass Ensemble and the Youth Brass Ensemble. After moving to Canada to pursue her studies, she has performed with the Nova Scotia Youth Symphony and in the Early Music Festival in Sackville. This commissioning project is her first of its kind in Canada.
