FROM THE MOLDAU TO THE BALKANS: SLAVIC ACCENTS

Conductor Xian Zhang transports us to the Bohemian countryside with picturesque landscapes and rousing patriotic accents. OSM Composer-in-Residence Ana Sokolovic presents the world premiere of her Balkanales Accordion Concerto, drawing from Balkan folklore and performed by Serbian Canadian accordionist Jelena Milojevic. Also on the program, works by the two most prominent Czech composers: Dvorak with his bucolic overture V prirode, and Smetana with three pieces from his Ma Vlast cycle, including the famous Moldau.
