HERVÉ NIQUET AND BERLIOZ’S L’ENFANCE DU CHRIST
Information on the activity
Dates to come
With L’enfance du Christ [The Childhood of Christ], Berlioz ushered in the Romantic oratorio tradition. Divided in three sections and featuring soloists, chorus, and orchestra, this work was an instant triumph at its premiere in Paris in 1854. From “Herod’s Dream” to the Holy Family’s “Flight to Egypt,” to “The Arrival at Sais,” Berlioz depicts biblical events with even greater sensitivity and intimacy than in his other sacred frescoes. OSM audiences will be pleased to reconnect with French conductor Hervé Niquet, whose most recent performance with the Orchestra was especially appreciated.
