THE BEIRUT EXDRAGAVANZA

The drag scene in Beirut is booming, and Helem Montréal invites you to experience it this Pride season!

The Beirut ExDRAGavanza is the first show of its kind in Montréal to feature six Lebanese drag queens in a virtual setting. Not only do we promise you entertainment, but you will also get an insight into the challenges faced by the drag queens and the realities of the Lebanese LGBTQ+ community at large. The show will be hosted by Montréal’s very own Miss Butterfly, who is also of Lebanese origin.

The show will open with a performance by Miss Butterfly, who will then introduce the Lebanese queens: Hoedy Saad, Diva, Zuhal, Qaws Quzah, Latiza Bombe and Andrea. Each queen will then present a performance on a song of their choice, and will share with us a challenge/experience they’ve been through as LGBTQ+ individuals and/or drag artists in Lebanon.

Also, in solidarity with the Lebanese LGBTQ+ community that has been disproportionately affected by the Lebanese economic crisis and the Beirut blast of August 4, 2020, a fundraiser will be linked to this event. As an attendee, we encourage you to participate and donate! The funds raised will be distributed to different Lebanese NGOs working on the ground to support this community. The list of NGOs will be confirmed soon. The fundraiser is scheduled to open early in August, pre-Pride week.
