Dates to come
During the Oka Crisis in the summer of 1990, a girl from Kahnawake steers a course between childish naiveté and her desire to make friends with a group of unruly teens. While her father mans the barricades to defend his ancestral lands, she has experiences that will stay with her for a lifetime.
Three decades later, Beans brings to life the confrontations between Indigenous people and the police from a Mohawk perspective. A hard-hitting film that reminds us that the crisis, grounded in intolerance, left an indelible mark on Quebec history.
Feature film by Tracey Deer (Quebec, 2020, 92 min., English, French and Mohawk language).
